Going to Cabo? Here are Some Recommended Must-Pack Items (By Season)

When visiting Los Cabos, there are several items to pack (that you may not think about) that can enhance your trip and make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable. What you should pack for your trip will also vary depending on the time of year you plan to visit. We have curated a list of items that we recommend you bring along for your beautiful trip to paradise!

What to pack by Season

Winter (December to February):

1. Light Sweaters or Jackets: While Cabo is generally warm year-round, evenings during the winter can be cooler. Pack a light sweater or jacket for cooler evenings.

2. Swimsuits: Don't forget your swimsuits for enjoying the beach and pools during the day.

3. Sunscreen: Sun protection is essential, even in the winter months.

4. Sunglasses: Protect your eyes from the strong sun.

5. Flip-flops or Sandals: Comfortable footwear for walking around town and the beach.

6. Dressier Outfits: If you plan to enjoy Cabo's nightlife, bring some dressier outfits for evening outings.

Spring (March to May):

1. Swimsuits: Prepare for lots of beach and water activities.

2. Light, Breathable Clothing: Pack lightweight, breathable clothing for warm daytime temperatures. You may want to layer your clothing as the temperature changes throughout the day.

3. Sunscreen: Continue to protect your skin from the sun.

4. Hiking Shoes or Sneakers: If you plan to explore the natural beauty of the region, including hiking, comfortable shoes are essential.

5. Hat: A wide-brimmed hat or ball cap can provide extra sun protection.

Summer (June to August):

1. Swimsuits: You'll spend a lot of time at the beach, so pack multiple swimsuits to always have a dry one ready.

2. Lightweight Clothing: Cabo can get very hot in the summer, so lightweight and breathable clothing is a must.

3. Reef-Safe Sunscreen: Protect the local marine life by using reef-safe sunscreen.

4. Waterproof Phone Case: If you plan to partake in water sports or beach activities, a waterproof phone case is handy.

5. Bug Spray: Some areas may have mosquitos, especially after rain.

Fall (September to November):

1. Swimsuits: Enjoy the warm waters before it cools down. Check if your resort or nearby in-ground pools will be heated for cooler days.

2. Light Clothing: Similar to spring, pack lightweight clothing for comfortable daytime temperatures.

3. Rain Jacket: September can see rain in Cabo, so a lightweight rain jacket can be useful.

4. Comfortable Walking Shoes: If you want to explore the town or go on hikes, bring comfortable walking shoes or hiking shoes.

5. Insulated Reusable Water Bottle: Stay hydrated during outdoor activities.

Items for All Seasons:

1. Power Adapter (if applicable): Mexico uses Type A and Type B electrical outlets, so if you're from a different region, you may need a power adapter.

2. Reusable Water Bottle: Help reduce plastic waste by carrying a reusable water bottle and refilling it as needed. Insulated bottles are great to keep drinks cool in the Cabo heat.

3. Medical Supplies: Basic first-aid items and any personal medications you may need. Bring a copy of your prescription(s) and enough medication to last the entire trip, plus some extra in case of delays.

4. Travel Insurance: Always a good idea in case of unexpected events.

5. Local Currency: While credit cards are widely accepted, it's good to have some local currency for small purchases or places that don't accept cards. Bring plenty of small bills for tipping.

6. Waterproof Dry Bag and Waterproof Phone Case: If you plan on going on water-based activities like boat tours, snorkeling, or kayaking, a waterproof dry bag will protect your valuables from getting wet. Water-proof phone cases will allow you snap some photos of the rich underwater sea life too!

8. Reusable Shopping Bag: Carrying a reusable shopping bag is handy for local markets or grocery shopping, and it's an eco-friendly choice.

9. Small Backpack or Daypack: A lightweight backpack is perfect for carrying essentials when exploring the area or heading to the beach.

10. Ziplock or Reusable Silicone Bags: These versatile bags can be used for packing snacks, keeping electronics dry, or storing wet swimwear.

5. Travel-Sized Laundry Detergent: In case you need to wash clothes during your trip. All EDS properties include laundry detergent and all basic supplies. If you’re not staying with us, be sure to check what supplies will be provided beforehand.

17. Spanish Phrasebook or Translation App: While many people in Los Cabos speak English, knowing at least some basic Spanish can be helpful and appreciated.

18. Travel Journal or Notebook: Capture your memories and jot down recommendations or notes from locals.

Remember to check the weather forecast closer to your travel date for any last-minute adjustments to your packing list.
